Ensembles

There are many different ensembles in the Band of Blue!

Marching Band

The most active ensemble in our program is the Marching Band of Blue! This ensemble meets during the summer for band camp and continues with after school rehearsals throughout the fall of each year. The marching band has several different sections: winds, drum line, front ensemble, and colorguard. Members of the marching band perform at every home football game, compete against other high school bands for trophies and accolades, and march in local parades just for fun. The ensemble also has many other awesome opportunities like band field trips and performing at hockey games!

Concert Band

The Concert Band at R.B. Stall is a course that meets daily during school hours, for the entire school year. This ensemble plays advanced musical literature as well as different popular tunes. Members perform at least two evening concerts a year, and also perform at the South Carolina Concert Performance Assessment (CPA) for professional adjudication and ratings. Members of this ensemble also enjoy some field trip opportunities!

Jazz Band

The Stall Jazz Band is a spring semester ensemble that meets regularly after school to prepare for a spring concert performance! This ensemble performs only once yearly, and is recommended for advanced performers. Music from this group includes many staple jazz works, but also modern and contemporary jazz compositions as well.

Percussion Ensemble

The R.B Stall Percussion Program focuses on the study of music education through the use of percussion instruments. In addition, the program provides students the opportunity to learn about different cultures through the study of world percussion. Under the direction of Justin West-McKenzie, the purpose of the R.B Stall Percussion Program is to help students discover their interests, passions, and purpose while bridging the gap between education and the beauty of music.
